Dear students,
the lectures Medical Sociology and Career Exploration (1st year of study) will continue to take place online this semester (WS 23/24), with the exception of the kick-off lecture on Friday, 13.10.23, which will take place in hybrid format (for more information see Moodle). Prevention and health promotion (5th year) will take place exclusively online this semester. All practical courses and seminars will be held in presence.
For recognition of academic achievements, please refer to the information provided by the Dean of Studies Office (SDEK), as well as the information on Moodle. As a rule, certificates of equivalence in the subject Medical Sociology are only issued in the case of a change of university within the medical studies programme. Work experience in the health care sector can be recognised as a prerequisite for the practical course Career Exploration ("Berufsfelderkundung"). In this case, the practical course does not have to be completed. Please refer to the conditions of admission to find out which previous achievements can be recognised.

In teaching, Prof. Apfelbacher and his colleagues cover the subjects social science, epidemiological, health system-related and health economics knowledge that is indispensable for the medical profession. Health economics is taught by Prof. Vogt and his staff. In addition, the Institute is involved in the development of innovative teaching projects to structure the practical phases in medical training.
